J. A. Perkins delivers a long lecture on the changes in society and the individual which pressure universities to conform, in order to preserve its role. He proposes a two-way relationship and proximity between the university and the city. M. Meyerson next speaks of the universitys role. He argues that, apart from communicating knowledge, it should also communicate values as well as cultivate aesthetics.
