Subject Content: The meeting begins with M. Meads long lecture on culture and its future. She stresses that geographical location influences peoples perception of their own identity and of their sense of belonging to a particular nation. She concludes by remarking that environmental pollution today -which has global effects and doesnt distinguish between nations or countries- affects this perception.
Next, E. Erikson speaks of his vision of the man of the future, followed by T. Lambo who speaks of the ways to improve relationships between members of a community and R. Aldrich who uses the paradigm of medical progress by arguing that the Earth should be seen as a patient who needs treatment.
The discussion that follows focuses on how to secure a better future for man.
R. Lourie and E. Isomura propose to change the methods and indicators used for estimating progress.
C. A. Doxiadis concludes this meeting by proposing a return to human measure and the clear distinction between men and machines.
